SYNOPSIS

The Thorn Trees is a supernatural folk thriller set on the American frontier, where history, folklore, and faith intertwine.

Before he is captured and executed, a ruthless pirate captain buries a legendary treasure deep in the wilderness. To protect it, he murders one of his own men, Guillaume, in an ancient ritual that binds the dead man to the treasure as its supernatural guardian. The captain leaves behind a curse: only someone of his bloodline can ever claim what he has buried.

Nearly a century later, eighteen-year-old Hannah White is struggling to save her family's failing farm while caring for her troubled father, Gideon. Desperate for a way out of their mounting debts, Gideon and Hannah find that an old family heirloom is actually an old treasure map.

Gideon joins forces with a crew of seasoned treasure hunters, Old Bob and Young Bob Wilson, to search for the fortune hidden in the surrounding wilderness.

But the treasure does not lie unwatched.

As the search draws the company deeper into the woods, strange disturbances give way to increasingly terrifying encounters. Guillaume's restless spirit has awakened, and the men pursuing the treasure begin to turn against one another as greed, fear, and supernatural forces take hold.

Hannah soon discovers that her connection to the treasure is far more personal than she imagined. She is descended from the pirate captain himself—and the bloodline meant to claim the treasure has survived through her.

Caught between a malevolent guardian spirit and men willing to sacrifice almost anything for the fortune beneath the earth, Hannah must confront the inheritance left to her and decide what should become of a treasure that has corrupted everyone who has tried to possess it.

Blending frontier history, American folklore, supernatural suspense, and a deeply human story about inheritance and choice, The Thorn Trees is an intimate character drama wrapped inside a dark supernatural treasure hunt.
